September’s already over
And I lost my 4-leaf clover
October’s on its way
And now I have to stay
I was looking for a lover
But he turned into a cover
My true feelings were lost
I found them at high cost
Here’s the passing of yet another season
And I still haven’t found one good reason
For the jumble of my life; the state of my affairs
I’ve only been playing musical chairs
There’s too much to reflect on and even more to do
Memories are rushing up in colors of green and blue
So here’s to the breeze
The blood on the tracks
To guys who always say it best
Yesterday’s love becomes tomorrow’s love
And somewhere in between innocence is lost
Is it possible to leave behind what you’ve always known
And somehow move on with your whole soul
And what if you came back
I don’t know why but I can’t answer the phone
My ability to comprehend has been working overtime
I’m going through my life tearing away the grime
There will never be a time or place
That can make love’s sorrow dissipate
But I’m still moving on
In every little way
There’s never a point in asking why
I’m always left out to dry
I’ve cried so much before
There’s no reason to anymore
I’ll probably just give up trying
Because no one else will give up lying
